Hair test results came
But we can't rejoice just yet. It is quite possible for a person to have plenty of mercury stored away in tissues such as liver and brain, but not have it excreted at all in hair or blood.
Andy Cutler's protocol gives you another way to read the test. It looks for abnormal patterns of element transport in the system, which is an effect of mercury poisoning. So it is looking indirectly for the presence of mercury using statistical analysis. I went to the posting at http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_hair_test.html#get_hair_test and followed the steps there to see whether Mike may have abnormal element transport.
His test does not raise any of the statistical red flags. So I guess we can breathe a sigh of relief. Take a look yourself at http://www.phylliswheeler.com/CuringAutismBlog/elementshairtest0508.pdf
Your son's ratio is many times that...
I would have the regular doctor (if you have insurance) run a thyroid panel with TSH, T3, T4, and thyroid antibodies. Thyroid overactivity and bipolar are often confused. Many a kid with graves was diagnosed as having autism. Have them look for thyroid antibodies.
At the AK, I'd have them check the TRH (the hypothalamus makes TRH to tell the pituiatary to make TSH for the thyroid to put tyrosine and iodine together to make T3 and T4) and T3 to T4 and T4 to T3 conversions to make sure the enzymes to make conversions are fine. The hypothalamus is responsible for much neurological and physical-to-emotional wellbeing.
Often these problems run in families so if you have an ancestry of autism in your family, suspect the hypothalamus rather than autism... especially now that they've found they can induce autism in monkeys by giving them vaccines... the autism is genetic premise is losing momentum.
Hope this helps...
I like to give a non-dairy acidophilus blueberry wafer probiotic to the kids every so often. Give it on an empty stomach. Typically the next day I find black circles under their eyes, body odour and/or bad breath and bloating in the grown-ups... all signs that bad bacteria has been found and destroyed. A lot of sleep issues also go away (thrashing, sweats, etc.) with the probiotics supplementation. We don't do it every day.
I have found that encapsulated probiotics don't work so great for us. And natural milk-derived probiotics give us the runs almost instantly.
I know aluminum - thyroid issues also are linked.
Hope this helps...

This blog describes how we started out on the protocol by Dr. Amy Yasko, who many say has cured or improved children with autism using a genetic-based nutrition therapy.
