One writer, N.D. Wilson, doesn’t think much of what Katniss does. She’s no hero, he says, except at the beginning where she takes her sister’s place. For the rest of the tale, she acts with self-interest in mind. It’s the circumstances that eventually set her up as a revolutionary.
I also didn’t get that satisfied feeling from reading these books that I do from a work that has a consistently self-sacrificing person at its core. But she’s memorable nonetheless.
What do you think?
