My focus for the new year is not on resolutions that I am likely to break, but on an attitude of the heart. I can see that I need to learn to rely on the Lord more fully in everything.  The Bible tells us to “trust in the Lord with all your heart,” and I don’t do that. Now I actually can’t do it on my own. But I can do it with the Lord’s help. So I need to ask.

What do I normally rely on? My bank account, my doctor, my car, and so on.  Also my refrigerator!  Now, The Lord has provided these for me and they are not bad in themselves. They are just not what I should be relying on. I should never put them first.

Here’s my verse for 2011: Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Prov. 3:5.
