In The Minor Miracle, Noah Minor is a seventh grader at Rim Rock Middle School. He suffers from an embarrassing condition: when he gets angry or upset, his clothes cling to his body, sometimes for hours. Does this situation have anything to do with the fact that he survived a 16-story fall as a baby? Meanwhile, he also has two wonderful gifts: his fast friends, Haley and Rodney.
When his long-lost Uncle Saul shows up and says Noah actually has super powers because of that fall, he’s ready to believe it. Then trainers in a mysterious “Gravitas” organization sign him up for lessons intended to help him control his special gravity-manipulation gifts.
But Gravitas and Saul tell opposite stories about each other. Which one of them is trying to trick Noah and hurt his friends?
Noah is a very regular kid, full of impulses to do the wrong thing, constantly living with the consequences. But he’s willing always to do the loyal thing for his friends. In fact, the plot takes him to places of risking his life for them. I found the book to be an uplifting, satisfying read.
It’s a Christian book: Noah prays when he’s in a tight spot. It contains no objectionable elements for a Christian family. It’s a fun and amusing superhero tale, and I’m looking forward to reading more in the series. Five stars.
