Today we have a guest post from author Joy DeKok:

Psalm 77:11
“I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”

Sometimes I want a new miracle – a diet that works even if I don’t work it, a cure for female hair loss, a cure for diabetes, and politicians who will do what they promise. I want God to show me what He’s been up to.

When I asked Him for this recently, He led me to the verse above.

As I prayed, thanking Him for the miracles of long ago (recorded in the same Psalm), He reminded me that the miracles in my life are to some of the kids I love my “long ago.” Like when I was fifteen and told God I wanted to know Him and to send someone into my life to help me. A few days later, He did. Or when I was in my thirties the doctors found a hard pea-sized lump in my breast they were very worried about that was suddenly gone without a trace. Or the time when our dog was dying and a little girl full of faith prayed for him and he lived five more years. (The vet verified this was a full-fledged miracle.)

As I continued to ponder His presence in my life, I believe He wants me to preserve what He’s done in my life on paper. These miracles are part of the faith legacy He is writing in and through my life. I am a witness of His works – a miracle in itself.

Isaiah 43:12
“I have revealed and saved and proclaimed— I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God.”

Joy DeKok, a Minnesotan, has seven books in print and is working on a novel series featuring main character Olivia Morgan. Joy is also developing a writing group called Write Yourself Strong for hurting women.

Your Life, a Legacy: Joy has shared this topic with audiences for over fifteen years. At their request, she finally compiled the keynote topics and the workshops into this easy-to-read book. She believes a life is a legacy worth preserving for this generation and those to follow. This is a short book, but may be the most important book DeKok has written.

Joy says, “You are not only an eye-witness of your life – you are the inner witness. No one can tell your story the way you can.”
