Autumn’s Shadow by award-winning author Lyn Cote is my featured ebook, available today for free on Amazon Kindle. While it’s the second book in the Northern Intrigue series, I’m guessing that you could start with this book, since it seems to have a complete story arc. Twenty-six readers gave it a composite of four of five stars on Goodreads.
Here’s the publisher’s blurb on it:
Romance and mystery in a small Wisconsin town.
Someone has a mean sense of humor. And is springing nasty pranks at the local high school. Who and why? And more importantly how can Keely Turner, the principal, and Burke Sloan, a sheriff’s deputy, stop the malicious prankster before someone gets hurt badly? Keely, the daughter of the richest man in the county, and Burke, a newcomer with his own family baggage, are attracted to each other in spite of their intentions. The fact that her teen-aged brother and his nephew become enemies doesn’t help either.
In the midst of this, the mystery baby from Winter’s Secret, Book One in the “Northern Intrigue” series, remains unidentified. But soon Keely uncovers a clue that may lead to the baby’s mother. Will the baby return to her mother or remain with her adoptive family? But over all hang the bigger questions. Whose is the spiteful mind behind the increasingly dangerous pranks? And will Keely and Burke be able to shed the disappointments of the past and the present and breakthrough to love? Only God can answer that.
An award-winning author of both contemporary and historical inspirational romance, LYN COTE has been a 2006 RITA finalist as well as a finalist for the HOLT Medallion and the National Readers Choice Award, and in 2011 a winner of the prestigious American Christian Fiction Writer’s CAROL Award. Lyn lives with her husband and four cats in the northwoods of Wisconsin. http://www.BooksbyLynCote.com
Can I read this on my nook? I don’t have a kindle but would love to read it!
Hi Amy,
Unfortunately it’s no longer free on Kindle, but it’s only $2.99. If that’s not too big a hurdle for you, you can buy it on Kindle and read it on the “cloud reader” on your computer. If you’re tech savvy at all you might want to change it from one format to another using Calibre, a free download software that helps you organize and work with your ebook collection on your computer. I’ve been using this and find it fairly user friendly and very useful. http://calibre-ebook.com/ Note: the format you need for your Nook is epub.
